24-25 November 2024 – Tsinghua SEA, Bali
The “Future Landscape of AI Research: Influences from Generative AI” symposium was held from November 23 to 25, 2024, at the Tsinghua Southeast Asia Center (TSEA) in Bali, Indonesia. This event convened distinguished experts from diverse AI research communities—including Natural Language Processing, Information Retrieval, Computer Vision, and Machine Learning—to examine the transformative impact of Generative AI, particularly Large Language Models (LLMs), on their respective fields.
Through a series of lightning talks, panel discussions, and collaborative working groups, participants evaluated the extent to which LLMs are reshaping traditional AI approaches, explored the potential convergence towards unified AI frameworks, and identified emerging interdisciplinary research opportunities. A significant outcome of the symposium was the co-authored white paper, which outlines future research directions, recommends educational strategies to align curricula with advancements in Generative AI, and offers insights to inspire the global AI community towards sustainable and ethical innovation.
