04 August 2025 – Tsinghua SEA, Bali

The Qinghui Qianyu Delegation for Smart Construction and Regional Research, consisting of students and faculty members, embarked on an insightful educational journey to the Kura Kura Bali Special Economic Zone (SEZ) on August 4, 2025. A similar visit had also taken place earlier in 2025 at the Tsinghua Southeast Asia Center.
The day began with an island tour covering key strategic areas such as The Cove, the 3M zone, and Surf Surf by the Waves (SSBW). The delegation observed how the region integrates smart construction technologies with coastal environmental preservation efforts within the Kura Kura Bali SEZ. This was followed by a lunch break at the Tsinghua Southeast Asia Center (TSEA) before proceeding to the next agenda.
In the afternoon, the delegation visited the Community Partnership Workshop, a community-driven plastic recycling facility located near TSEA and within the Kura Kura Bali SEZ. Participants witnessed firsthand the innovative recycling processes and gained valuable insights into the real-world application of circular economy principles. The next stop was the Turtle Conservation and Education Center (TCEC) on Serangan Island, home to the endangered sea turtles that nest along the island’s coast. Students received educational briefings on the current state of turtle populations in the wild and broader conservation efforts.
The visit reached a meaningful high point when the delegation took part in a turtle release activity. The moment became even more special with the presence of Mr. Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok)—a prominent Indonesian political figure and former Governor of Jakarta—who joined the students and faculty members during the release, adding a memorable and inspiring element to the experience.
The day concluded with a visit to the Eco Tent and surrounding structures, ending with a serene sunset by the shores of Serangan. On this meaningful occasion, Tsinghua Southeast Asia Center extends its sincere gratitude to the School of Architecture, Tsinghua University, for their visit to Bali, and looks forward to continued collaboration and impactful exchanges in the years to come.
