27 July 2025 – Tsinghua SEA, Bali
Professor Liu Bibo, director of the Tsinghua Southeast Asia Center (Tsinghua SEA), Assistant Dean of Tsinghua University PBC School of Finance, and Tsinghua University PBC School of Finance delegation visited the center’s campus in Serangan, Denpasar, Bali, to strengthen academic and regional ties. Tsinghua SEA also included a broader exploration of the Kura Kura Bali Special Economic Zone. This zone is a hub for sustainable innovation and development.
The delegation was greeted by Mike Tuori, Program Academic Director of Tsinghua SEA, who initiated the visit with cordial salutations and an exposition on the center’s vision and impact. He then presented “Tsinghua SEA at a Glance”, a comprehensive overview of the center’s achievements in interdisciplinary education, its alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, and its role as a platform for global collaboration.
Following the presentation, the delegation toured the Tsinghua SEA campus and museum, offering a firsthand look at the facilities, educational infrastructure, and historical context of the Center’s development. This immersive experience provided valuable insight into the Center’s educational philosophy and cultural foundations.
The visit continued with an introduction to Kura Kura Bali by Steven Seng, Chief of Subsidiary Operations of Bali Turtle Island Development (BTID). His presentation outlined the master plan of the eco-focused economic zone and its potential for academic, ecological, and business partnerships. The delegation then embarked on an Island Tour, visiting landmark sites such as the Cove Pavilion, Three Mountains, Surf Surf by the Waves, and the Eco Tent, all of which represent the zone’s commitment to sustainability, innovation, and community development.
The visit concluded with strengthened relationships and renewed enthusiasm for future collaboration between Tsinghua University and regional partners, especially in building a sustainable and inclusive educational ecosystem in Southeast Asia.
