9 July 2024 – Wiyang College Visit Tsinghua SEA, Bali
A group of 16 undergraduate students from Weiyang College made a brief visit to the Tsinghua Southeast Asia Center (TSEA) as part of their learning and cultural exchange program. The visit aimed to introduce the students to TSEA’s mission, programs, and sustainable campus design while strengthening ties between Weiyang College and the Southeast Asia branch of Tsinghua University.
The students were warmly welcomed by TSEA’s Academic Director, Michael Tuori, who provided an overview of the Center’s profile, development, and ongoing initiatives in education, research, and community engagement. His presentation highlighted how TSEA serves as a platform for collaboration between Tsinghua University and Southeast Asian partners, focusing on sustainability, innovation, and regional development.
Following the introduction, the group embarked on a campus tour, exploring key facilities such as the Saraswati Room and open learning areas that reflect the Center’s environmentally conscious design. Students learned how the architecture integrates nature and technology, reinforcing TSEA’s commitment to sustainable development and interdisciplinary learning.
The visit concluded with an island tour, giving the participants an opportunity to experience Bali’s cultural and natural heritage. This part of the program allowed students to connect classroom discussions on sustainability with real-world examples of local wisdom and environmental harmony. The Weiyang College visit not only deepened their understanding of TSEA’s vision but also encouraged meaningful reflection on how global education can contribute to building a sustainable future.
